There are many programs to do this job. But you can use Windows Movie Maker. Why? Because if using Windows XP or Vista, you get it directly without having to search again.
To call this program, select it from the Start menu, All Programs, Accessories, Windows Movie Maker. To enter the photos you want, click Import pictures, which you can find in the left panel. Select the image of your choice on the dialog box and exit. Then drag the image to the panel Storyboard / Timeline at the bottom of the window.
Once the pictures already in there, you can rearrange the order, delete which the not needed, add transition effects such as wipes and dissolves. If you are in Timeline mode (opposite of the Storyboard mode), you can set how long the show from each image. You can see it all in the Timeline mode because there is such a line for measuring time on the thumbnail of the image, and a link or button to move to the Storyboard mode.
You will need a microphone installed in your PC to record a narration to be inserted. When installed, select Tools, Narrate Timeline. Everything will be clear after that.
You can play the video in Movie Maker, in the form of a small window or full-screen, but you need to re-convert the slideshow to another form if you want to share them to others. You will find many options in the left panel program under Finish Movie (in XP) and ‘Publish to’ (in Vista). If you have XP Media Center or Vista Home or Ultimate, you will be able to find the option to burn them to DVD.
