Video game is often regarded as a gadfly student, does not apply to a school in Japan.
Senior school Joshi Gakuen of Tokyo even use the Nintendo DS game consoles and software to load the books since May. The device is used every weekend to learn English vocabulary.
“During this time they are using video games to play at home, and they were surprised when allowed to use it in school,” said Motoko Okubo, a teacher at the school is cited as Reuters, Mon (30/6/2008).
Deputy Head of the school Junko Tatsumi says, the technology is expected to help students motivated to learn English easily.
“The students appear to concentrate and be happy with the way this kind, such as when they learn,” he said.
“The policy in our schools is learning English should be fun,” he added.
